We had such a great trip to NYC! Started off last Sunday when we went to stay with some friends out in Breezy Point and enjoyed some delicious food drinks and amazing company!! Monday we headed into the city where we met our Tunnel to Towers family and our friends, checked into the hotel then headed over to Fox Studios for the guys interview with Megyn Kelly! From there we all went out to an awesome restaurant called Suspenders, delicious food!! Tuesday morning we went over to the Ogilvy office for the Premier of Our Bravest
commercials, then onto a boat tour around Manhattan on FDNY 343 then we went to Little Italy for dinner and had some great pasta! Wednesday was suppose to be our day off but Travis had the opportunity to co-host with Jenna Lee, so we headed back over to Fox Studios for the morning and part of the afternoon! We rapped up the interview and rushed back to make it to the Freedom Tower tour, which we did not want to miss... until I realized we were going up 102 stories on an open construction elevator!!! Heart attack! I was so scared the entire 6 minute elevator ride, Travis got a kick out of it though and Chloe had a blast, ironic. The views from the top of the tower were unreal and it was such an honor to be able to see the inside of the building, we also got to sign our names on the wall! I haven't even gotten around to the 4th of July festivities yet! Sheesh, as you can see busy, but fun week! The morning of the 4th we all met in the lobby and walked over to the 9/11 memorial for a private tour like last year, its very emotional every time. Shortly after that we headed down to Battery Park for a BBQ, indoors this year, with great food and great company! We had a lot of down time in between the BBQ and our night time events which was really nice to have some nap time! We got to experience the NYC fireworks from the Intrepid Flight Deck again this year which is such a spectacular show! You really haven't seen fireworks until you see the NYV 4th of July fireworks!
The trip overall was so GREAT! There were a few hiccups along the way however, one of the days a lady walked right into Travis and he fell weird, trying to avoid falling on her, and really hurt his right shoulder! Then again he hurt the same one coming off the bus! We made it to Friday in one piece, just until we were about to leave and Chloe came running and tripped and hit her head on Travis' wheelchair and started screaming, she looked up and there was blood all over her face! Probably the scariest moment I have had as a parent, once we got it all wiped away there was a small/deep cut in her eyebrow so I had already freaked and called an ambulance so they came and took us to the hospital because they thought she may need a stitch. Thankfully she didn't need a stitch and they took great care of us getting us in and out pretty fast so we were able to get back on the road to Bethesda around 1030. They are both good now and recovering great! So glad there was nothing too serious!
I just want to take this opportunity to thank everyone that made this past week possible we had such a great time and really appreciate all the hard work and effort everyone puts into these events!! Thank you Tunnel to Towers, Building for Americas Bravest, and Ogilvy for a great week!
